Dr. Pitts is originally from Chicago, IL but is a medical graduate of Vanderbilt School of Medicine in Nashville, TN. After Vanderbilt he completed residency in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PM&R) at Emory University in Atlanta, GA. The focus of PM&R is restoration of function and quality of life. In residency he gained much experience in musculoskeletal medicine, rehabilitation, spine and sports medicine along with some regenerative medicine.
He also gained significant experience in fluoroscopically guided spinal procedures and peripheral injections. However, Dr. Pitts wanted to broaden his skills and treatment options beyond the current typical standards of care. Thus, he came to Colorado as a fellow to learn more about regenerative medicine and interventional orthopedics as well as to further develop his skills in fluoroscopic guided procedures, diagnostic ultrasound and interventional ultrasound. He has been involved in research and development of the regenerative procedures and post procedural rehabilitation. He completed his fellowship in 2014 and was excited to stay on as a staff physician.
Additionally he has interests in nutrition, supplements, and complementary and alternative medicine. He has written and published a nutrition guide; 21st Century Guide to Nutrition and Health. Dr. Pitts believes in taking a holistic approach to patient care.

Dr. Hyzy is Board Certified and fellowship trained in Interventional Orthopedics. He is published in the use of Autologous Orthobiologics including platelet derived growth factors and mesenchymal stem cells for orthopedic and spinal conditions. Dr. Hyzy is a Chicago native but moved to Florida in his youth and started his pursuit of medical training. Dr. Hyzy completed residency training at The University of Texas at Austin Dell Medical School in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (P.M.R./Physiatry). Dr. Ugochi Azuike, a native of Houston Texas with Nigerian roots, immeasurably loves medicine, her culture and her family. After graduating Cum Laude from the University of Texas at Austin, she gained admittance to Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine (TCOM) in Fort Worth Texas, where her medical career began. She chose osteopathic medicine because this field of medicine aligned with her holistic beliefs of treating the whole body and not just a symptom. Here she received hundreds of hours of training in not only traditional medicine but also in osteopathic manipulation of the body, which is used as a tool to help promote the body’s natural ability to self regulate and self heal. During her time at TCOM she founded the school’s first physical medicine and rehabilitation interest group and also served as vice president of the sports medicine club.
After shadowing a physiatrist, she was drawn to this specialty because of the focus on the restoration of the body’s function as well as quality of life as a whole. Her passion and leadership translated into a PM&R residency position at Baylor college of medicine in Houston Texas where she gained experience in musculoskeletal and neuromuscular medicine, rehabilitation, as well as sports and spine. As a third and fourth year resident at Baylor she headed the program’s musculoskeletal and regenerative medicine journal club as well as the musculoskeletal ultrasound club and spearheaded several workshops within her specialty and other specialties at Baylor.
Armed with a deep desire to broaden her skillset as well as the treatment tools that she believed could help heal the body and not just mask symptoms, she began her fellowship training at the Centeno Schultz Clinic where she has gained extensive training in advanced interventional injection techniques for the spine, muscles, and peripheral joints using orthobiologics. She is also currently involved in clinic research in the field of interventional orthopedics/regenerative that is being used to advance and pioneer this ever growing field. Outside of her clinic work, Dr. Azuike enjoys spending quality time with her family. She is also a professional recording artist who has worked with RCA records among others. She also enjoys making natural lotions, lip balms, and hair care products.
Dr. Matthew Lucas is a Denver native. He graduated from Colorado State University with a degree in Health Science/Sports Medicine, where he developed a specific interest in sports injuries and exercise physiology. Dr. Lucas completed medical school at Rocky Vista University in Parker, Colorado, where he gained valuable experience in both surgical and non-surgical orthopedics. He later completed residency training at Stanford University in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, where he had the opportunity to work with high level athletes and gain skills in interventional pain management using fluoroscopy and ultrasound for precise image guidance procedures. During his medical training, he spent time volunteering for several international medical missions, organized free resident run musculoskeletal clinics, published peer reviewed literature on discogenic low back pain, lectured extensively on sports injuries and stem cell use in orthopedics, and has presented at an international spine conference.
Dr. Lucas’s research interests include developing new minimally invasive techniques in the treatment of musculoskeletal conditions as well as the use of orthobiologics in tissue repair. He continues to have a passion for teaching and education and remains a guest lecturer for the Stanford department of orthopedics.
Dr. Lucas is currently an Interventional Orthopedics Fellow at the Centeno-Schultz Clinic, where he will further his training in advanced interventional procedures and regenerative orthopedics. He is thrilled to be practicing in his home state of Colorado. Outside of work, he spends his time in the mountains fly fishing and golfing. He is an avid Denver and CSU Rams sports fan.
Dr. Chaz Fausel grew up in the Atlanta, Georgia, area. Being the first in his family to graduate college, Dr. Fausel obtained his Bachelor of Science at the University of Georgia, in Athens. Dr. Fausel was then admitted to the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta, where he obtained his Medical Doctorate. During his time at the Medical College of Georgia, Dr. Fausel was exposed to all areas of western medicine but felt like the traditional medical system was failing the patients that it intended to treat.
Looking for a more holistic approach to caring for patients, he pursued a residency in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation (PM&R) at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia. During his residency, Dr. Fausel gained significant exposure to traditional interventional fluoroscopically-guided pain procedures, as well as musculoskeletal regenerative medicine.
Dr. Fausel, currently a fellow here at the Centeno-Schultz Clinic, is excited to learn more about the intricacies of what can be offered from a regenerative approach and to further progress his procedural abilities. He is excited to continue his lifelong journey of learning and is passionate about the opportunity to treat patients at the highest level possible by performing procedures that are only offered here at the Centeno-Schultz clinic.
Outside of clinic, Dr. Fausel spends most of his time with his two young children and wife. His wife has a paleo food blog of her own, so they enjoy making delicious paleo meals for their family and friends.
