We are now offering Regenexx® Procedures, a family of non-surgical adult stem cell and blood platelet treatments for common injuries and degenerative joint conditions, such as osteoarthritis and avascular necrosis. These stem cell procedures utilize a patient’s own cells to help heal damaged tissues, tendons, ligaments, cartilage, spinal disc, or bone.


Dr. Lieber is a native of Pittsburgh who has dedicated his medical career to treating individuals who are experiencing spinal axis and musculoskeletal pain. Dr. Lieber received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Hobart College in 1975. He received his Master of Arts degree in Counseling Psychology from Antioch New England University in 1978. He received his Medical Doctorate from the Chicago Medical School in 1986. He completed his residency in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center program in 1990. He holds board certification in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, Electro Diagnostic medicine, and pain medicine.

Dr Lieber has trained pain fellows, residents, and medical students in the approaches to pain treatment. He specializes in regenerative orthopedic medicine including prolotherapy, platelet rich plasma (PRP) and stem cell procedures and has trained doctors internationally. Since 1995 he has successfully and effectively performed over 20,000 procedures, and he is the current president of the American Association of Orthopaedic Medicine (AAOM).

Dr. Adelsheimer is a native of Pittsburgh who has dedicated his career to the non-operative treatment of musculoskeletal pain disorders. He graduated cum laude from Duke University with a Bachelor’s of Science degree in 1987. He received his Medical Doctorate from the Medical College of Pennsylvania in 1991. He completed his residency in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at Tufts University in 1995, serving as Chief Resident. He holds board certification in both Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, and Pain Medicine.

Dr. Adelsheimer specializes in the treatment of non-operative pain disorders. He has performed over 20,000 fluoroscopically guided spinal procedures which include epidural injections, facet and sacroiliac joint injections, nerve blocks, radiofrequency neurotomy, discography, and spinal cord stimulation. He also specializes in regenerative medicine, performing procedures including prolotherapy, platelet-rich plasma (PRP), and stem cell therapy for orthopedic conditions. Dr. Adelsheimer incorporates these procedures into an overall rehabilitation plan designed to decrease pain and improve quality of life.

Dr. Jesse Sally is a native of the Pittsburgh area experienced with treating both acute and chronic musculoskeletal issues. Dr. Sally brings a new specialty to RAPS with treatment for sports injuries and sports medicine. He graduated Cum Laude from Virginia Tech with a Bachelor’s of Science degree in 2003. He received his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree at the Edward Via Virginia College of Osteopathic Medicine in 2008. He completed residency training in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, where he served as chief resident.

Dr. Sally holds board certification in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, along with additional certification in Sports Medicine. His expertise includes sports and spine medicine, diagnostic musculoskeletal ultrasound, ultrasound-guided procedures, platelet-rich plasma injections, prolotherapy, fluoroscopically-guided spine procedures, concussion management, electrodiagnostic medicine, exercise prescription, and wellness management. He offers treatment plans to optimize physical function, as well as coaching to promote a healthier lifestyle with nutrition and wellness counseling.

Melissa is a native of Pittsburgh who received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Health Sciences. She also obtained a Masters degree of Physician Assistant from Duquesne University in 2004. Since the summer of 2005, Melissa has been working at Regenerative and Performance Specialists.

As a Physician Assistant, Melissa works with the physicians to provide non-operative treatment of patients’ pain. This includes medication management, interventional spinal procedures, and physical therapy. Patients are often seen for follow-up appointments with Melissa, to discuss their treatment.

The relationship between a PA and physicians is of mutual trust and respect. The PA is a delegate for the physician, treating the patient in the style and manner developed and directed by the supervising physician.

Sarah graduated with honors from Gannon University in 2002 with a Bachelor of Science degree and in 2003 with a Master’s degree of Physician Assistant Science. Sarah grew up in St. Marys, Pennsylvania and moved to Pittsburgh in 2005. During her career, she has worked in other medical specialties that has included prior pain management experience. Sarah joined Regenerative and Performance Specialists in March 2012.

As a Physician Assistant, Sarah works with the physicians to provide non-operative treatment of patient pain. This includes joint injections, medication management, and physical therapy.
